Semantic Tagging as a Service- STAS
Applying standards facilitates metadata sharing
Is your organisation looking to:
- Increase findability of products delivered to customers via online channels?
- Improve the findability and relevancy of rich media shared across the corporate intranet?
- Bring consistency to the process of tagging media assets?
- Raise the quality of tags used to associate media content?
- Markup and tag large volumes of digital content quickly?
Semantic tagging could be the solution for you
Tags are a very efficient method of describing information with metadata. By adding semantic information to the keywords this allows computers to understand more about the pages and use that knowledge to offer a better service for end users interacting with the tags.
It also allows visual researchers and buyers who tend to source media content using semantic and conceptual search methods to filter on disambiguous search terms, reducing the amount of unwanted media assets returned in searches and assist to increase downloads.
Semantic tagging allows us to take your assets, apply psuedo semantic inference and utilise natural language processing techniques to define the conceptual theme and apply conceptual terms that reflect a professional media buyer's thought process. To ensure reach to a wider audience we also include the descriptive terms and synonyms that users adopt as part of the searching process.
How does semantic tagging work?
- We start by analysing your core information against our picture thesaurus and media ontology to define a tailored taxonomy and set of keywords
- Utilising a process of precision and recall we combine semantic phrases to create a taxonomy of topics using keyword matching. Ideally this process is enhanced if supporting documents such as historic classsification of ads, product and research information are provided to enable us to build a semantic picture around the content
- Where we can define a clear pattern, consistency and relevance to your assets these are automatically assigned semantic tags and become templates for the editors to use as point of reference for assets not assigned conceptual and semantic terms
- Editors review the assets that could not be processed and assign the appropriate semantic terms and concepts. Depending on the media accompanying captions, headlines and synopses can also be generated or edited
- The ontology is reviewed by the editors to enhance the associated concepts. The review process is then extended to you for feedback and actions
- Once the process is completed and signed off the required outputs comprising machine readable and human friendly formate are generated for exchanging and integrating with external systems. To facilitate ongoing updates and revisions we are looking at providing web services to enable direct integration with client systems
